Career Academy helps Operation Christmas Child

Students and teachers at the Whitfield Career Academy packed more than 40 boxes for Operation Christmas Child as part of a school wide effort. Students had set a goal of 25 boxes, but they quickly exceeded that. Students were asked to bring toys, hygiene items and shoes. They also raised more than $100 to help purchase item for the boxes. Those who couldn’t donate helped out by setting up the donation booths and by packing and wrapping the boxes.

“It made me feel good to give back to others who don’t have anything because we take Christmas for granted,” said student Joe Jones.

Christina West, another Career Academy student, said it made her feel good to give a gift to a child who may never get another Christmas gift.
