Social Networking on the Internet class Saturday at Dalton State
Do you miss talking to your grandchildren as often as you’d like? Wonder what your college student is up to away from home? Is there an old friend or flame with whom you’d like to reconnect?
Social networking on the Internet is a trend that’s here to stay, and it’s a terrific way to stay linked with friends, cyber friends and loved ones. The Center for Continuing Education at Dalton State offers Social Networking on the Internet on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for students who desire to enter the world of cyberspace but desperately need a launching pad.
In this hands-on course, students will learn to create, update and maintain accounts on Facebook, Classmates.com and Twitter, currently some of the hottest communications Web sites. Not only will students have the opportunity to create accounts, but instructor Lori Hedden will also teach how to add cool backgrounds, icons and music to personalize pages.
“These Web sites are fun for interacting socially but they can also serve as incredible marketing and business tools for professionals,” said Kelly Snyder, personal enrichment program coordinator. “Facebook alone has more than 300 million active users and half of those active users log on to Facebook in any given day. The fastest growing demographic on Facebook is those 35 years and older. Think about the positive personal and professional ramifications those numbers signify!”
Pre-registration is required for this workshop and may be completed by logging on to www.daltonstate.edu/cce or calling (706) 272-4454.
“Students will love this hands-on workshop,” Snyder concluded. “Cyberspace is an ever-growing world filled with virtually instant ways to communicate and share photos. Take this course and join the fun.”
