Northwest students place high, take tech to next level

Several Northwest Whitfield High School students placed high in the Sequoyah Regional Georgia Educational Technology Fair.

Bryan Cooper won first place in Web 2.0 Internet Applications for his Wikia website on the history of aviation in the United States. Eli McMahon earned first place in Digital Photography for a PhotoShop collage of original artwork and photography that depicts the negative and positive influences on the average teenage girl in the modern age. Josh Rountree received first place in Multimedia Applications for a PowerPoint presentation on photography as a career in which he included original photographs. Audrey Edds received second place in Multimedia Applications for a PowerPoint presentation on the orthodontic profession that featured pictures of her friends.

Students in grades three through 12 are eligible to participate in any of the 14 categories available, including Digital Video Production, 3D Modeling and Robotics. Participants in the regional fair are winners of local fairs held in their school districts.

The regional fair was held at Teasley Middle School in Cherokee County. The Sequoyah Regional Georgia Educational Tech Fair is a lead-up to the state-level Georgia Educational Technology Fair that will be held March 10 in Macon and which is produced by the Georgia Educational Technology Consortium.

If you are interested in helping these students with the costs of attending the state fair or if you would like further information about the fair, contact NWHS Tech Fair sponsors Shara Cook or Betsy Clem, or contact Principal Britt Adams at (706) 673-6533.
