Med students visit Murray High

In December, students from Murray County High School and North Murray High School were invited to meet with fourth-year medical students Allen Ligon of Augusta and Heath Petty, an MCHS graduate.

The two are fourth-year medical students from Mercer School of Medicine in Savannah.

The high school students spent two hours asking questions about what they need to be doing now and in the future to make them highly qualified applicants to medical schools in the future. The students’ questions ranged from what they should be doing in high school to costs, loans and life in general for medical school.

Murray County Schools Career, Technical and Agricultural Education Department hopes to present bi-monthly small group meetings for students in all areas of interest, especially those areas that are extremely competitive. They hope to always have two speakers with one being a graduate of Murray County Schools when possible.
