Area runners are invited to help test the reconfigured course for the second Dalton Red Carpet Half Marathon, 5K and 2K event, which is scheduled for a downtown start and finish on Oct. 15.
David Sanders, co-director of the race, asks runners to gather at 7 a.m. this Saturday in front of the Whitfield County Courthouse on King Street. Participants can run or walk any portions of the routes.
Further tweaks will be made after a survey following the exhibition run.

Racing runs in this family
(Sammy Headrick/Special to The Daily Citizen) The Martinez family will participate in Saturday’s Dalton Red Carpet races. Pictured are, front row from left, Evelie and Marisol; second row, Antonio, Jessie, Brain and Jordy; back row, Marisol, Hugo, Rosie and Jose. Not pictured is Servio.
If officials for Saturday’s Dalton Red Carpet races are looking to award a family for having the most participants, a local contingent rates as quite a favorite.
