NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Southeastern Conference’s career reception leader is leaving Vanderbilt for the NFL.
Wide receiver Earl Bennett announced his intention Thursday to make himself available for the 2008 draft.
The Birmingham, Ala., native was snubbed by the major Southeastern Conference programs. He used that as motivation, making the league pay for the lack of attention.
Bennett became the SEC’s career reception leader last season.
In just three years, he has 236 catches. That’s 28 more than former league record holder Craig Yeast, who needed four years at Kentucky to reach the milestone.
