Dalton High graduate in charge of power line security

John Clark, a 1983 graduate of Dalton High School, was selected as the Georgia Control Center Security Manager. In this position, he will be responsible for providing daily management, support, and leadership to the System Operator, System Security, Fault Data, and Pre-Arrange functions in the Georgia Control Center. This position is responsible for the operational security of the Integrated Transmission System in Georgia.

John received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree from Georgia Tech and a Masters in Business Administration — Finance from Georgia State University. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Georgia.

He joined Georgia Power as a Co-op student in 1985 and worked in a variety of jobs in Transmission and Distribution until 1999, when he transferred to Southern Company Services as a Sr. Transmission Planning Engineer. John returned to Georgia Power in 2003 and held supervisory positions in Transmission Training, Distribution Centralized Engineering Services, and Transmission Protection & Control Field Services.

John is the son of Mike Clark and the late Dixie Clark of Dalton.
