Businesses using chemicals encouraged to attend emergency planning committee meeting
The Whitfield County Local Emergency Planning Committee will hold its regular meeting on Thursday. The agenda will feature a presentation by Al Frazier, EPCRA (Emergency Planning & Community Right-to-Know Act) program manager for the Georgia Environmental Protection Division.
This presentation is designed to introduce the upcoming transition for Tier 2 reporting from its current status into the new format of using E-Plan. Facilities with chemicals in quantities that equal or exceed certain thresholds must file Tier 2 reports, by law. There are currently 140 locations in Whitfield County that are reporting. Businesses tasked with filing these reports are encouraged to attend Thursday’s meeting.
The meeting will be at the Whitfield County Emergency Services Center at 804 Professional Blvd. in Dalton, beginning at 1 p.m.
