CALHOUN — Mohawk Industries, Inc., (NYSE: MHK) announced the appointment of W. Christopher Wellborn to president and COO of Mohawk. Mr. Wellborn has held the position of chief operating officer since November 2005 and served on Mohawk's board of directors since 2002. Mr. Wellborn held the position of president of Dal-Tile, our ceramic and stone products business, from March 2002 to November 2005.
In commenting on the announcement, Jeffrey S. "In his new role, Chris will continue in the development and execution of the company's strategy to deliver increased value to our customers, employees and shareholders. Chris will promote further innovation in our products, processes, marketing and brands in all of our operations across the enterprise. He will work with me and all our leadership teams to deliver on our commitments to quality, efficiency, service and sustainability.
"As we emerge from this cyclical downturn, Mohawk continues to position the company to benefit with an improved organization and lower cost structure."
