Dalton Beauty College is now Genesis Career College, and the business has relocated to a new 14,900-square-foot building at 1315 Abutment Road in Dalton.
Dalton Beauty College was founded by Juanita Young in 1968 and has provided cosmetology education and services. The new name was unveiled at the Health, Mind and Body Expo at the trade center on Saturday.
Genesis Career College, with a motto of “Your New Beginning,” currently has 198 students. The new building features more than 30 student work stations, a full service color bar, two pedispas, four nails stations for manicures and acrylics nail services, and multiple classrooms for each grade level.
Gill’s Grill welcomed its new neighbor on its opening day, Tuesday, with peace lilies.
Genesis Career College is offering free haircuts until Tuesday, Sept. 14, and is planning a grand opening for Friday, Oct. 1.

Julian Saul challenges young leaders to step up
Julian Saul, founder of Queen Carpets and retired president of Shaw Industries, was the featured speaker at United Way Young Leaders Society Lunch with Leaders on May 16 at the Outback Steakhouse. United Way’s Young Leaders Society was formed in 2006 to address an identified need to develop the next generation of community leaders, volunteers and philanthropists.
