West Walnut Avenue Chick-fil-A closing Saturday for remodeling
For the next few weeks, people craving Chick-fil-A from the restaurant at 1517 W. Walnut Ave. won’t be able to get their fix there.
The restaurant will close on Saturday at 4 p.m. and will reopen in early March after extensive renovations. But for Chick-fil-A aficionados, the restaurant inside Walnut Square Mall about four miles east will remain open.
The West Walnut Avenue Chick-fil-A is a popular lunch and dinner spot for local residents and also hungry diners traveling I-75. The restaurant has a popular family night each Tuesday that draws scores of diners. The renovated restaurant will have an updated decor, new tables and chairs, fresh tile, upgraded restrooms and more.
The restaurant opened in April 1990.
“It has been a great 20 years,” restaurant operator Tom Woodby said. “It has been our pleasure to serve our loyal customers throughout the years and we look forward to undergoing the renovations in order to better serve them for years to come.”
To get the word out about the temporary closing, employees have handed out fliers to customers informing them of what’s going on and including coupons to be used when the store reopens.
The restaurant will host a customer appreciation day following the reopening. The Dalton restaurant renovation is part of the chain’s overall plans this year to improve 171 restaurants, including the full remodeling of 10 stand-alone and 35 mall locations, as well as expansion and improvement projects to more than 100 additional sites.
