DALTON — The Chattanooga Advertising Federation presented Shaw Floors with two ADDY Awards on Feb. 20 at the Chattanoogan Hotel in Chattanooga.

The company’s Shaw Anso nylon Consumer Brochure won a Gold ADDY Award and the 2008 Shaw Sustainability Report won a Silver ADDY Award. ADDY is a creative awards program developed by the American Advertising Federation.

“Shaw is proud to be recognized for the work of our creative services division,” said Kathy Young, Shaw’s residential director of creative services. “Our company is dedicated to investing in a talented team of designers and creative professionals in order to offer Shaw customers the tools they need to succeed in their respective retail environments.”

According to Shaw art director Michelle Nelson, the Anso nylon brochure “highlights Shaw’s longstanding commitment to leadership in the design of sustainable products, while showcasing the company’s premium fiber type, Anso nylon.”

All Anso nylon products are Scientific Certification Systems certified post-consumer recycled content equivalent of 25 percent and recyclable in the cradle-to-cradle model at the Shaw’s Evergreen Nylon Recycling facility in Augusta. The company has recycled nearly 300 million pounds of Type 6 nylon products, like Anso nylon. Anso nylon is the oldest and most consistently marketed fiber brand in the flooring industry.

“Shaw Creative Services is continually working to produce the highest quality creative work in the industry. We strive to produce work that appeals to the target audience by staying attuned to trends in color, style and design — and applying our findings to the work that represents Shaw in the face of our retailers and consumers,” Nelson said. “Every piece that leaves Shaw creative services has been thoughtfully developed and executed. And it’s an honor to be recognized with a Gold ADDY for our work.”

The brochure will move to the next level of the ADDY competition.

Shaw’s inaugural sustainability report was the first in the floorcovering industry. This report is reflective of Shaw’s commitment to sustainability leadership through the Shaw Green Edge, a company-wide business platform based on sustainability through innovation. The report charted Shaw’s sustainability progress in more than 50 informative pages. Reflecting Shaw’s long history of investment in sustainable development and initiative-driven progress, the report outlines the company’s accomplishments and goals. It also reflects the global flooring provider’s fully vertically integrated organizational footprint, detailing progress according to three pillars of sustainability: corporate governance and social responsibility; operational and environmental excellence; and innovative products and services.

The report details Shaw’s progress towards key measurable, timeline-driven, public corporate goals, including safety, energy, waste and water guided by the executive growth and sustainability council.

“The Shaw Sustainability Report is one of the most important pieces that Shaw creative services has produced,” said Emma Williams, environmental communications manager for Shaw and author of the report. “The report is the first in the industry and highlights a legacy of environmental commitment. The report is an invaluable resource for Shaw customers and sales force to learn more about where we’ve been, where we are and where we’re going in the future.”

The ADDYs are the advertising industry’s largest competition, attracting more than 50,000 entries every year in local ADDY competitions. Conducted annually by the American Advertising Federation, local ADDY awards are the first of a three-tiered national competition.

In the first tier, local entrants compete for recognition as the best in their markets across the nation. In the second tier, local winners such as Shaw will compete against other area winners in one of 14 district competitions. District winners then compete in the third tier which is the prestigious national ADDY awards competition.
