Children's Healthcare of Atlanta recognized

ATLANTA – Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta has been ranked among America’s top 10 pediatric hospitals by Parents magazine. The highly-anticipated survey results of Parents magazine marks a benchmark year for the exclusive survey, which identifies the top children’s hospitals in the country. The results of the extensive survey will appear in the Feb. 2009 issue of Parents magazine on newsstands nationwide Jan. 13, 2009.

“It is an honor to be ranked among the nation’s top 10 leading pediatric health care organizations,” said Donna Hyland, president and chief executive officer, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. “The Children’s physicians and staff are committed to providing excellent clinical care for Georgia’s children in addition to focusing on research, teaching and wellness initiatives in order to enhance the lives of our patients.”

Parents magazine survey results also include specific data and rankings for the top hospitals in six specialty areas—oncology, emergency medicine, cardiac, neonatology, orthopaedics and pulmonology.

The Children’s Sibley Heart Center was ranked No. 5 nationwide. Highlights in 2007 that contributed to this ranking include:

60,000 patient visits

630 fetal echocardiograms and consultations

8,900 cardiac catheterization procedures

$1.5 million in new donor funding

The Children’s Orthopaedics Program was ranked No. 5 nationwide. Highlights in 2007 that contributed to this ranking include:

33,550 pediatric orthopaedic patients

8,309 pediatric orthopaedic surgeries

Children’s Sports Medicine program treated more than 4,531 patients

Only hospital in Georgia with an onsite lab that makes orthotics and prosthetics

Children’s is also the recipient of many other accolades that honors their focus on patient care, research and education. U.S.News & World Report lists Children’s as one of the top pediatric hospitals in the country. In addition, Fortune magazine recognizes Children’s commitment to their employees and ranks the organization as one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For.”
