DALTON — Rick Brown of Operation Uplift has reported that Charlie Troop has reached the rest stop below Calhoun on I-75 and is “rolling through” without stopping to pick up Patriot Guard riders and additional law enforcement escort vehicles.

“I think they should be at Kmart around 1:30, then take 15 to 20 minutes to change their gear over to the school buses,” he said. “They should be at the (Dalton High football) stadium around 2:15 or 2:20 after going slowly through town.”

A welcome ceremony is planned at the stadium, also known as Harmon Field, on Crawford Street. The soldiers will proceed down Walnut Avenue to Thornton Avenue, traveling north to Crawford Street.
