— Northwest Whitfield’s girls lead Dutchtown 27-23 at halftime of the Georgia High School Association’s Class 4A basketball state semifinals at the Arena at the Gwinnett Center in Duluth.

The Lady Bruins, who were led in the first half by eight points from 6-foot-5-inch junior post Quaneisha McCurty, are trying to make their first appearance in the state championship game since 1990. The winner of Northwest and Dutchtown will play the winner of Forest Park and Southwest DeKalb — who are playing in Wednesday’s 7 p.m. semifinal in Duluth — at 3 p.m. Friday in Duluth for the title.
